Acceptance of Terms

These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your access to and use of the Rokins marketplace platform, including the website, mobile application, and all associated services operated by Rokins Marketplace Ltd ("Rokins", "we", "us").

These Terms are a binding legal agreement between you and Rokins. Please read them carefully. We may update these Terms periodically; continued use of the Platform after changes take effect constitutes acceptance.

About the Platform

Rokins is an open online marketplace that allows registered users to list, browse, and connect over products and services across Nigeria's 36 states and the FCT.

Rokins is a platform intermediary, not a party to any transaction between buyers and sellers. We do not own, sell, resell, or inspect any items listed on the Platform. The seller is solely responsible for the accuracy of their listings and fulfilment of any sale.

Accounts & Registration

To access most Platform features, you must create an account. By registering, you confirm that:

• You are at least 18 years old (or the age of majority in your state).
• The information you provide during registration is accurate, current, and complete.
• You are registering for yourself or are authorised to act on behalf of the business you represent.
• You will keep your account credentials confidential and not share access with others.
• You will notify us immediately at support@rokins.com.ng if you suspect unauthorised access to your account.

You may hold only one personal account. Rokins reserves the right to merge or close duplicate accounts. We may suspend or permanently ban accounts that violate these Terms.

Buyer Rules

Buyers are responsible for conducting their own due diligence before completing any transaction. Rokins strongly recommends meeting in a safe, public location for in-person exchanges.

Seller Rules

By listing on Rokins, you agree to the following responsibilities:

• All information in your listings (title, description, price, photos, location) must be accurate and not misleading.
• You own or have the legal right to sell the items you list.
• You will respond to buyer inquiries within a reasonable time.
• If an item is sold or no longer available, you will promptly remove or mark the listing.
• You will not list the same item in multiple categories simultaneously to manipulate search results.
• You are solely responsible for collecting, remitting, and reporting any applicable taxes on your sales.
• Business sellers must ensure their listings comply with all applicable Nigerian consumer protection laws, including the Federal Competition and Consumer Protection Act (FCCPA) 2018.

Listing Standards

All listings on Rokins must meet the following quality standards:

• Accurate title — clearly describes the item or service being offered.
• Honest description — discloses any defects, damage, or material limitations.
• Real photos — must be actual photos of the item (not stock images for physical products). Photos must not contain watermarks from other platforms.
• Correct category — listed under the most appropriate category and subcategory.
• Accurate location — state and LGA must reflect the seller's or item's actual location.
• Realistic price — prices must be in Nigerian Naira and reflect a genuine offer.

Rokins reserves the right to edit, remove, or delist any listing that does not meet these standards, without prior notice.

Prohibited Content

The following items and content are strictly prohibited on the Platform:

• Illegal goods or services of any kind under Nigerian federal or state law.
• Firearms, ammunition, explosives, or dangerous weapons without proper licensing.
• Counterfeit, replica, or infringing products (goods bearing fake brand marks).
• Stolen property or items obtained through fraud.
• Drugs, controlled substances, or drug paraphernalia.
• Human beings, human body parts, or live protected wildlife.
• Sexually explicit content of any kind.
• Any content that promotes hate, violence, or discrimination based on ethnicity, religion, gender, or disability.
• Financial fraud instruments (fake bank slips, scam investment schemes, Ponzi products).
• Listings that are designed to collect personal data without transactional intent.

Payments & Fees

Rokins is currently free to join and list. We may introduce paid features (e.g., promoted listings, featured placements) in future. We will notify registered users at least 30 days before any fee becomes payable on existing free features.

All financial transactions for the sale of goods or services take place directly between buyer and seller. Rokins is not a payment processor and is not responsible for any payment disputes, failed transfers, or fraud arising from transactions conducted outside the Platform's messaging system.

Intellectual Property

The Rokins name, logo, website design, and all original Platform content are the intellectual property of Rokins Marketplace Ltd and protected under Nigerian and international copyright law.

When you upload photos, descriptions, or other content to the Platform, you grant Rokins a non-exclusive, royalty-free, worldwide licence to display, reproduce, and distribute that content solely for the purpose of operating and promoting the Platform.

You retain ownership of your content. You represent that you have the right to grant this licence and that your content does not infringe any third-party intellectual property rights.

Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by applicable Nigerian law, Rokins shall not be liable for:

• Any loss or damage arising from transactions between users of the Platform.
• The accuracy, completeness, or legality of any listing.
• Indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages of any kind.
• Loss of data, revenue, or profits arising from use of or inability to use the Platform.
• Any damage resulting from unauthorised access to your account.

Rokins's total aggregate liability to you for any claim arising out of or related to these Terms or the Platform shall not exceed the amount (if any) you have paid Rokins in the 12 months preceding the claim.

Disputes Between Users

Rokins is not a party to transactions between buyers and sellers and has no obligation to resolve disputes. However, we encourage users to first attempt resolution directly.

If you believe another user has acted fraudulently or in bad faith, you may:

• Report the listing or user using the in-Platform report feature.
• Contact our Trust & Safety team at trust@rokins.com.ng.
• File a complaint with the Federal Competition and Consumer Protection Commission (FCCPC) at fccpc.gov.ng.

Rokins reserves the right, but has no obligation, to take action against accounts or listings that are the subject of a valid dispute report.

Termination

By you: You may close your account at any time by contacting us at support@rokins.com.ng. Upon account closure, your active listings will be removed within 48 hours.

By Rokins: We reserve the right to suspend or permanently terminate your account, without notice, if you:

• Violate any provision of these Terms.
• Post prohibited content or engage in fraudulent activity.
• Cause harm to other users, third parties, or the Platform.
• Are required to be suspended or terminated by law or court order.

Upon termination, your right to use the Platform ceases immediately. Sections relating to intellectual property, limitation of liability, and governing law shall survive termination.

Governing Law

These Terms are governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the Federal Republic of Nigeria. Any disputes arising under or in connection with these Terms shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of Rivers State, Nigeria, unless otherwise required by law.

If any provision of these Terms is found to be unenforceable by a court of competent jurisdiction, the remaining provisions shall continue in full force and effect.
